Zakee Shariff
London -based artist and designer Zakee Shariff set up her studio in 1993, making art and working freelance with a variety of fashion- and textiles-based clients. In 1996 she launched the Zakee Shariff ladies clothing collection, with a younger diffusion line called Maggie introduced in 2001. Both brands were extremely popular, selling across the globe, and a cult following developed for Zakee's work. In 2005, she branched out from her clothing collections to explore different creative avenues, particularly her love of collaborative projects. The result has been a wide diversity of acclaimed new work within fine art and illustration, fashion and textiles, interior and product design, styling, publishing, and art direction. While her output has been varied, Zakee's elegant drawings, prints, and paintings remain her signature. Indeed, whether applied to fabric, paper, canvas, clothing, wallpaper, album cover artwork, or any other medium, any one of her creations are instantly identifiable as a Zakee Shariff piece. Zakee's aim always remains the same - to touch people through her work and spread a message of peace and love, hopefully encouraging people to think more deeply about the world they live in. Like a beautiful dream, all that's really required to enter Zakee's world is a willingness to open up, let go, and enjoy the ride...
